Boxing schedule for 2024: Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk, Jaime Munguia vs. John Ryder set to start the year

2023 was a great year for boxing, with fans calling for almost every major fight to actually happen. The biggest of those fights that did not go together was the fight between WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and IBF, WBA and WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk to crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era.

Although that fight didn’t come together for 2023, it is set as an early highlight of the 2024 boxing calendar. Fury and Usyk will compete for all four heavyweight world titles on February 17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Both men enter the fight in fear in their 2023 campaigns, with Usyk being dropped by Daniel Dubois only for the referee to give the shot a low blow and give Usyk time to recover. He then stopped Dubois in round 9. Fury was forced into a very difficult situation in October, when his undefeated record was barely saved in a fight with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. Ngannou scored knockdowns and did enough to win several rounds, although Fury ultimately won by split decision. While Fury’s title was not on the line, a loss would have been even more embarrassing than narrowly missing out on a win in a fight he was expected to dominate.

Next up is a super middleweight bout between rising contender Jaime Munguia and former champion John Ryder on January 27. Munguia, a 27-year-old native of Mexico, still hopes to woo his countryman and undisputed divisional champion, Canelo Alvarez. A matchup, but he has struggled to find opponents willing to step into the ring with him. Now, as Ryder looks to become undisputed, he faces one of Alvarez’s very own fighters, having defeated Alvarez via unanimous decision last May. His biggest win came in February 2022 when he won by split decision over Daniel Jacobs.

Note: It will be constantly updated with changes and additions.
