Fans don’t recognize Shania Twain as she debuts new pink-haired look ahead of Vegas residency: ‘Who is she?’

That doesn’t impress them much.

Fans are confused by Shania Twain’s new pink-haired look, which she debuted on Instagram Wednesday ahead of her latest Las Vegas residency, “Come On Over.”

“I love this outing from the @hauteliving cover shoot because you can FEEL how much fun I had πŸ’… Wait until I color my hair, do what I dare in Vegas, sorry, not sorry!!” the singer-songwriter, 58, captioned the close-up shot, which showed her flashing an open-mouthed grin as her pink locks cascaded down her collarbone.

As excited as she is about the upcoming concerts, which begin Friday at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino’s Bakkt Theater, one of many critics commented under her cheerful snap, “Who is she?”

“Been a fan for years, didn’t know who this was,” someone else commented, as another added, “That picture doesn’t even come close to looking like you.”

β€œI love shania but she is unrecognizable [sic] in this picture,” wrote a fourth netizen, which was followed by, “Is that her?! I would literally never know.”

In addition to wearing a wig over her naturally brunette locks, some social media users have speculated that Twain may have also gotten a “new mouth and teeth,” and others think she sold out because she apparently chose not to “age gracefully.”

But some showered the musician with praise, as one person gushed, “I LOVE the pink on you!!” and another wrote in response to her caption, “Yes indeed!!!! Life on your OWN terms!!! So excited to see you on stage soon! We love you @shaniatwain.”

It appears that Twain’s updated look reflects her third Sin City residency, as she told Haute Living last month that the show’s “visuals will be fresh” and “there will be a modern aesthetic as opposed to the music.”

β€œI will definitely focus on fashion for the upcoming shows. It’s going to be a different wardrobe than anyone’s ever seen, but it’s also a completely different show than anything I’ve done before,” she said, making sure to note that her cotton headscarf was about to rear its beautiful head.

β€œIt’s fun β€” the reason I even experimented [the pink] it was because I was going gray,” she shared with the publication. “And now I’m thinking that when I’m all gray, maybe I should just dye my hair at that point and rock the pink.”

She continued, β€œIt’s how I feel when I have that color. It makes me feel youthful. I don’t need to look younger in my own mind β€” it’s not my goal β€” but I like to feel refreshed, and the pink hair does that. It’s amazing.”

The singer went on to say that she is becoming “less and less inhibited” as she gets older and that she enjoys “being fearless”.

“Nothing really scares me,” she explained. β€œI don’t care about wearing hair color and not taking it off. I don’t care about the backlash…even in my own mirror. It’s not a wrong thing to experiment with. You just have to have fun – and being playful makes me feel more youthful.”
