What happened in “Love and Translation” Season 1 Episode 1?

The first episode of season 1 of “Love and Translation” was titled “You Had Me at Bonjour.” The singles entered the villa and were shocked after discovering that the real challenge to exploring romance was the language barrier.

Three Americans who spoke only English sought love in a beachfront villa with twelve international women who spoke no English. The social experiment tested whether love could cross the language barrier.

The women presented themselves to the cameras and attempted to have a conversation with the men. Ari shared in the confessional, “I was born to be loved and I was born to love another person.”

Meanwhile, another single, Jhuliana, described her first impressions of American men, saying: “I think American men are gentlemen. They treat women very well.” Gisele Spilder was stunned when TLC show host Sangita Patel introduced the cast with a translator.
