Holloway vs Topuria? Fan reaction after incorrect Wikipedia entry about UFC 298 creates massive confusion

Incorrect entries on Wikipedia have confused many readers. One such incident happened when someone edited the UFC 298 main event on Wikipedia, and when it came to the attention of former UFC fighter Dan Hardy, he couldn’t believe what he was reading.

UFC 298 goes down this weekend in Anaheim, California, and Alexander Volkanovsky will return to defend his 145-pound gold against Ilya Topuria in the featherweight division. However, at the time of writing, the Wikipedia entry states that the fight has been discontinued, and instead, Max Holloway vs. Ilya Topuria is the new UFC 298 main event for the interim gold.

Dan Hardy Confused After Fan Edits UFC 298 Wikipedia Entry

A confused Dan Hardy tweeted a screenshot of the edited UFC 298 fight card that featured Max Holloway and Ilya Topuria in the main event. The question invited hilarious reactions from fans who could not contain their laughter at the entire incident.

“I hope someone was just messing with UFC Wikipedia.” Dan Hardy tweeted.

Max Holloway will next face Justin Gaethje in the lightweight division at UFC 300 for the symbolic BMF title. To add fuel to the fire, one fan also pointed out how UFC 300 listed Holloway vs. Gaethje as “cancelled.”

Needless to say, Alexander Volkanovsky vs Ilya Topuria is still official and there are no reports of Holloway vs Gaethje being canceled.

UFC 298 will also feature some other exciting bouts, including the return of Robert Whittaker against Paulo Costa in the co-main event. Henry Cejudo will once again walk into the Octagon as he makes a possibly last-ditch attempt to book a direct title shot against Merab Dvilishvili. Also on the main card is Ireland’s Ian Geary, who takes on Geoff Neal.

UFC 298 promises to be an action-packed night. Will we see a new champion crowned in Anaheim this weekend? Let us know in the comments section.
