LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: “House of the Dragon” Season 2 Episode 4 premieres on HBO on Sunday, July 7, 2024.

The exciting episode left fans devastated when Rhaenys Targaryen (Eve Best) died at the hands of Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell) and Vhagar.

The episode captivated audiences worldwide, with fans analyzing every gripping moment and looking for clues as to what lies ahead.

“House of the Dragon” is based on the book “Fire and Blood” by George RR Martin. In the latest episode, a number of clues and events foreshadowed future battles and outcomes, some of which played out in the same episode.

Here’s a look at the “House of the Dragon” Season 2 Episode 4 easter eggs

Aemond Targaryen at Harrenhall

In recent episodes, Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) was shown struggling with hallucinations at Harrenhall. In one haunting instance, he sees a figure resembling himself but dressed as Aemond.

This foreshadows an upcoming battle between Aemond and Daemon where both go head to head and are killed at Harrenhall.

There is a transition from Aemond to Alys Rivers (Gayle Rankin). This marks another significant development, as Aemond and Alys will later become lovers in the series.

Among Daemon’s other hallucinations is Laena Velaryon (Nanna Blondell), who was his wife before she died in childbirth. Many would remember that Laena and Daemon shared a strong bond over their rides on Vhagar and Caraxes.

If Laena had been alive, Aemond might not have demanded Vhagar, and she might have been able to help prevent further conflict between the blacks, eventually saving many lives and bringing an early end to the conflict.

Demon considers himself responsible for Laena’s death, and his hallucinations act as a manifestation of that guilt, not just for himself but for the realm in general.

In one of the final moments of Rhaenys’ life, we see her arguing with her husband Colrys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) about honoring Alyn for saving Colrys. This suggests that Rhaenys is aware of Alyn being Corlys’ illegitimate child.

That wish of Rhaenys will come true later in the series when Alyn is recognized as Velaryon and assumes the role of Lord of the Tides from Corlys Velaryon.

Rhaenyra Targaryen on the Iron Throne

In the opening shot of Episode 4, we see Rhaenyra Targaryen ( Milly Alcock ) sitting on the Iron Throne wearing the crown.

Although this is just one of Daemon’s hallucinations, where he sees a younger version of Rhaenyra sitting on the throne, that vision will eventually come true.

The vision of a younger Rhaenyra on the throne during Daemon’s hallucination was an important foreshadowing of King’s Landing falling during the Dance of the Dragons, where Rhaenyra becomes Queen in “Fire and Blood”.

Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney), and his dragon, Sunfyre, were injured in the final moments of the episode. This development marks a pivotal turning point in the war, with Aemond set to assume the role of prince ruler.

As King’s Landing falls later in the season, we will see Aegon move to Dragonstone, which is located near Rook’s Rest.

The Sunfyre dragon loses a wing and will require time to recover before returning to compete again later on Dragonstone against Moondancer.
