what to know

The Heat are 8-2 against the Magic since October 2021, and they will have a chance to build on that success on Sunday. The Miami Heat will take on the Orlando Magic at Kia Center at 6:00 PM ET. The Magic have home-court advantage, but the Heat are expected to win by one point.

The point spread may have favored the Heat last Friday, but the final result did not. They lost to Atlanta 109–108 on Dejounte Murray’s last-minute jump shot. The Heat have now taken the ‘L’ in back-to-back games.

Jimmy Butler had a good effort for the losing team and scored 25 points with six assists and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Orlando lost to Philadelphia at home on Friday by a decisive 124-109 margin. The Magic haven’t had much luck with the 76ers recently, as the teams have played poorly the last two times they met.

The Magic’s loss came despite quality play from Wendell Carter Jr., who dropped a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds. Carter Jr. continues to progress, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he has played.

The loss to Miami dropped their record to 24–18. As far as Orlando is concerned, they have been struggling lately, as they have lost five of their last six contests, which has put a notable dent in their 22-20 record this season.

When the teams last played last Friday, the Heat went ahead of the Magic 99-96. The rematch may be a bit difficult for the Heat because this time the team will not have the home court advantage. We’ll see if the change in venue makes any difference.
