what to know

If the oddsmakers’ predictions hold true, the near future looks bright for Purdue. The Purdue Boilermakers and Michigan Wolverines will face off in a Big Ten battle at Mackey Arena on Tuesday at 9:00 PM ET. Purdue will be looking to keep their ten-game home winning streak (stretching from last season) alive.

We saw a pretty high 164.5-over/under line set for Purdue’s last contest, but the actual score was much more modest than that. They advanced with an 84-70 win over the Hawkeyes on Saturday. It’s a little easier to win when you outscore your opponent 19 to 4 on the offensive boards, as Purdue did.

Zach Eddy continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 18 rebounds. This match was his third consecutive match with at least 22.4 points. Lance Jones was another key contributor, scoring 17 points with six rebounds.

Meanwhile, things could have been worse for the Wolverines, but they could have been much better as they suffered an 88-73 loss to the Fighting Illini on Thursday. Michigan has not had good luck with Illinois recently, as the teams have played poorly in the last six meetings.

Despite the loss, Michigan got a solid performance from Tyrese Reed Jr., who scored 20 points with five rebounds. In fact, this is the most points Reed Jr. has scored all season. The team also got some help from Oliver Nkamahoua, who scored 16 points.

The Boilermakers have been on a roll lately: They have won ten of their last 11 contests, giving them a nice 17-2 record this season. As far as the Wolverines are concerned, they have been struggling lately, as they have lost six of their last seven games, which has put a notable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Some high-performance offense is likely to be on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest-scoring teams in the league. Purdue has had no problem scoring this season, averaging 85.1 points per game. However, it’s not like Michigan is struggling in that department as they are averaging 79.3 points per game. With both teams able to score points with such ease, the only question is who can take the score higher.

Purdue defeated Michigan 75–70 when the teams last played in January 2023. Does Purdue have another win, or will Michigan turn the tables on them? We will get the answer soon.
