However, things take a drastic turn when Suzie begins to discover shocking truths about her husband.

Suzie has always lived under the impression that her husband, Masa Sakamoto (Hidetoshi Nishijima), used to work on refrigerators at Imatech, an electronics company.

However, when he goes missing, his colleague, Yuki Tanaka (Jun Kunimura) visits her and presents her with a home robot named Sunny (Joanna Sotomura) in Episode 1.

That’s when Suzie learns that Masa has been working as a roboticist for the past 12 years. As she struggles to process this new information about her husband, she visits his office and finds bloodstains in a restricted area.

In Episode 2, she also discovers the existence of a dark manual for the robots, probably used for sinister purposes. The grandson of a local shop owner shows her a red signature used by those who built and used the manual.

This discovery leaves Suzie suspicious, wondering if Masa was the one who designed the dark manual and if he was capable of causing harm to others.

Before the end of the episode, we see Sunny experience a brief flashback to an incident in Division 5. As the staff prepares to dispose of a dead body, Masa is seen working on a code where he uses that red signature.

At this point, it appears that someone may have died due to the advanced robot technology developed by Masa, suggesting that he may have locked away Sunny’s memories to protect his secrets.

However, the episode still does not reveal what happened at Division 5 and where Masa and his son disappeared to.

In Episode 3, Suzie will continue her investigation to discover what else Masa has been hiding from her and what caused his disappearance.

Two episodes of ‘Sunny’ are currently available to stream on Apple TV+.
