The Super Bowl brings Formula 1 fans down to their knees as the wait continues for the 2024 season opener at the Bahrain GP.

NFL fans witnessed one of the most entertaining Super Bowls in NFL history. While they enjoyed the sport, F1 fans were not as passionate about the sport. Football is a classic American sport, while F1 is more dominant in European countries. When people say football in Europe, they assume it’s soccer.

F1 is currently on its winter break. This is the longest time fans have to sit without seeing a car on the track. The last time fans saw the car on track was during the final round of the 2023 season in Abu Dhabi which took place in November.

Super Bowl LVIII has Formula 1 fans itching for the season opener

The city of Las Vegas hosted the biggest sporting event in the US, the Super Bowl, last Sunday. The game was played between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. Neither of the 2 teams could come out on top after 4 quarters. However, the Chiefs prevailed during overtime.

While NFL fans enjoyed this, F1 fans were a bit clueless about what was going on. Not all European F1 fans understand the rules of football. This caused them to lose F1 cars from the track.

Fans took to social media to express their envy of football fans enjoying their favorite sport. But this jealousy will not last long. The F1 season is almost here. The car will be back next weekend. This is going to be a very exciting season for Formula 1.

When is the action set to start for F1 fans?

The season opener is scheduled to start on February 29th in Bahrain which will host practice sessions before the Grand Prix. However, we may see the car on the track before that. On February 21st, teams will take their challengers to the track for pre-season testing. Which will continue till 23rd February.

While fans think they have to wait for another week before the season officially starts, Season 6 of the series Drive to Survive will hit the internet with Netflix. The season will have a total of 10 episodes. This will give fans enough content to fill the gap between pre-season testing and the season opener.

Although pre-season testing is still a week away, the drama of the sport has already begun. Over the past few weeks, the F1 world has received a lot of breaking news. When the 2023 season ended, fans didn’t expect much from the winter break as all things maintained their driver lineup. However, no one expected what came.

The first breaking news to hit the F1 community was the departure of team principal Günther Steiner for Haas. The Madrid GP was announced after this. Then came the news that Andretti Motorsport had been rejected by F1 to enter the sport form 2026. After this, the biggest news of the decade came out.

After spending 11 years with Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton decided to leave the team to join their rivals Ferrari. Due to this, there was a huge uproar in the world of motorsports. But the season hasn’t even started. There is no doubt that we will see a lot of action this season.
