She invites Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Luke (Scott Patterson) to spend Valentine’s Day weekend at her boyfriend Logan’s (Matt Zuccry) Martha’s Vineyard property. While Rory and Logan find it fun, Luke turns off the charm and Lorelai isn’t there for him. Logan saves the day — and changes Luke’s opinion of him — when he gives Rory one of the gifts he had planned to give because Luke forgot one for Lorelai.

‘Parks and Recreation’ Season 2, Episode 16, ‘Galentine’s Day’

This Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) on Valentine’s Day may have existed before she remembered it in 2010, but Galentine’s Day is her holiday. On February 13, Leslie’s mother, Marlene (Pamela Reed), attends a party with a lifeguard named Frank (John Larroquette) with her own “Romeo and Juliet” story.

After Leslie tells her then-boyfriend Justin (Justin Theroux) the story, they head out the next day to reunite the young lovers at a dance. All their hard work comes to an end when Marlene rejects Frank and, finally, Leslie breaks up with Justin.

‘How I Met Your Mother’ Season 6, Episode 16, ‘Desperation Day’

Like “Parks and Recreation,” Valentine’s Eve is all about women — or, more accurately, taking advantage of the desperation of single women. Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris) affectionately calls it “Desperation Day,” and Robin Sherbetsky (Cobie Smulders) decides to lean into her single status and hang out with her co-workers.

While the rest of the gang is away in Minnesota, Barney and Robin post up at McLaren’s, each on a different mission. He finds himself attracted to one of Robin’s co-workers, who rejects him after he explains how to play laser tag. Once the clock strikes midnight, Robin takes the opportunity to pretend he’s failed, but she sets him up on a date with her colleague for Valentine’s Day.

‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Season 2, Episode 16, ‘Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered’

Xander Harris (Nicholas Brendan) gives his girlfriend, Cordelia Chase (Charisma Carpenter), a silver necklace as a token of his affection. He doesn’t know that his friends have turned her against him and she breaks up with him, causing him to cast a love spell on her in revenge.

Because Xander’s aim wasn’t correct, the spell backfires and everyone but Cordelia watches. Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is not immune and tries to seduce him in the school library. At one point, she turns into a rat and a love-crazed mob attacks Xander and Cordelia. All is well in the end as Buffy returns to her teenage years and the lovebirds ride off into the sunset.
