Super Bowl LVIII is around the corner to determine the NFL’s champion for the 2023 season. The San Francisco 49ers will take on the Kansas City Chiefs in front of thousands of fans at Allegiant Stadium, Paradise, Nevada on February 11, 2024.

While there will be countless fans in the stadium, there will be millions who will tune in from around the world to watch the clash on their TVs. This list examines past editions of the Super Bowl to see which edition had the most viewers.

Super Bowl LI: New England Patriots Vs. Atlanta Falcons

Super Bowl LI 2017 between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons was held at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The match was televised by FOX in the USA and attracted a national audience of 111.9 million. It was the fifth most-watched Super Bowl in history.

It was the first Super Bowl to go into extra time. With six points by the Boston team in overtime, the New England Patriots came out on top with a final score of 34–28. Tom Brady won the MVP for his performance in front of 70,807 in Texas.

Super Bowl 50: Denver Broncos Vs. Carolina Panthers

In 2016, the Super Bowl came in fourth on the list with 112.3 million viewers in 50 countries. The 50th anniversary of the Ultimate Game in the NFL was played between the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers at Levina Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The Denver Broncos won the clash with a 24-10 scoreline. They scored 10 in the first quarter and finished strong with eight in the fourth quarter. Broncos linebacker Von Miller won the MVP in front of 71,088 fans in California.

Super Bowl XLVIII: Seattle Seahawks Vs. Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos make another appearance on this list with their 2014 appearance in Super Bowl XLVIII. This time, they came in second against the Seattle Seahawks with a scoreline of 43–8. Seattle dominated the Broncos with 22 points in the first two quarters. They came back with another 21 points in the second half to win the title.

Super Bowl XLVIII was played at MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey and attracted a national audience of 112.752 million. Seattle Seahawks linebacker Malcolm Smith won the MVP in front of 82,529 in New Jersey.

Super Bowl XLIX: New England Patriots Vs. Atlanta Seahawks

Super Bowl XLIX in 2015 is second on the list with $114.810 million. The New England Patriots and Atlanta Seahawks clash at University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Arizona. The New England Patriots came back with 14 points in the fourth quarter and won the match with a scoreline of 28-24.

Tom Brady won the MVP in front of 70,288 to end a 10-year championship drought for the New England Patriots. It is considered one of the greatest Super Bowls of all time and was highly rated From NFL.com List of 100 Greatest Games.

Super Bowl LVII: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Super Bowl LVII in 2023 holds the record for the highest viewership ever in Super Bowl history. The clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles drew 115.1 million viewers. It was played in front of 67,827 fans at State Farm Stadium, Glendale, Arizona.

The Kansas City Chiefs won the championship with a scoreline of 38–35. They scored 17 points in the final quarter, including the game-winning field goal by Harrison Butker. Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs quarterback, won the MVP to cement his legacy in the NFL.

The Super Bowl in 2024 could break this record with added interest in the event due to the added level of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship. A half-time show from Usher could also help drive viewership. All eyes will be on Allegiant Stadium on Sunday.
