UEFA European Cup 2024 Match Preview, Odds Lineup, Live Streaming, and Head-to-Head-Head

Belgium will be looking to get their UEFA Euro 2024 campaign back on track after suffering a shock 1-0 defeat to Slovakia on matchday one. Romania, on the other hand, is fresh off a comprehensive and massive 3-0 win over Ukraine. Belgium is currently ranked third in the FIFA rankings while Romania occupies the 46α΅—Κ° place.

Belgium’s form going into the European Championship was quite inspiring for the nation. With four wins and two draws in six outings, the Belgians were optimistic about their chances in the Euros. The national team has started a new era since the 2022 FIFA World Cup under the leadership of coach Domenico Tedesco. However, as was the case for the country, surprises are never a distant prospect which was evident in their 1-0 loss against Slovakia.

Romania managed two wins, three draws, and a defeat in their last six encounters. Nobody expected the Romanians to have a chance in UEFA Euro 2024, let alone start the event with one of the best performances to date. Their tactical prowess more than compensates for the weakness they possess in personnel. The rest of the competition will be wary of the threat that Romania can offer.

Belgium vs Romania: Likely line-ups

Axel Witsel and Thomas Meunier continue to remain on the sidelines for Belgium. However, Domenico Tedesco will receive a major boost with the return of experienced attacker, Jan Vertonghen in central defence. Jeremy Doku could be given a starting position on the left wing, where the 22-year-old is generally deployed for his club, Manchester City.

As far as Romania is concerned, changes are not expected either in personnel or tactically. Edward Iorandescu will be fully committed to securing another positive result that could go a long way to securing qualification for Romania. He will be delighted that his side are free of fitness or suspension issues.

Belgium’s likely line-up: Castles; Castagne, Faes, Debast, Theate; Tielemans, Onana, De Bruyne; Trossard, Doku, Lukaku

Romania’s likely line-up: Riveted; Ratiu, Dragusin, Burca, Bancu; M. Marin, R. Marin, Stanciu; Man, Mihaila, Dragus
