UFC Fans Still Feel Charles Oliveira Shouldn’t Have Lost His Last Fight

  • Fans believe Charles Oliveira was robbed during the Arman Tsarukyan fight at UFC 300.
  • Carlos thinks he has done enough to win and also almost put Arman to sleep.

Charles Oliveira was on his way to becoming one of the most decorated fighters the UFC has ever accommodated. Along with being the former lightweight champion of the UFC, DoBronx also holds the record for the most finishes in the promotion’s history. His rise to stardom was quite difficult as he faced quite a few injuries that stunted his growth as a fighter.

However, he overcame the toughest odds and opponents to dominate some of the greatest fighters ever, let alone lightweights. His most recent appearance was at UFC 300 against current No.1 ranked lightweight, Arman Tsarukyan. The result of this fight was highly controversial as Arman won by decision.

Even Charles Oliveira thought he put out Arman Tsarukyan

Before we get into what Charles Oliveira had to say, fans themselves think the former lightweight king deserved to win especially since he had a little more success on the floor. One fan said, “Charles Oliveira ALMOST pulled off the greatest comeback in UFC history.” Another fan said, “Arman has never been as close to finishing the fight as Carlos how does he win this?”

Following the fight, Oliveira himself weighed in on the split decision loss to Tsarukyan. he said, “30 seconds [left], it was tight, one of the performances I like the most, D’Arce choke. I thought he was out, that’s why I had my tongue out, joking, you know? But I don’t know, it’s part of the game.” Surprisingly, even Oliveira thought he choked Arman with the D’Arce during those final minutes. However, the statistics of that fight clearly show that Arman controlled the result a little more than Oliveira.

Arman had 75 total strikes landed against Carlos 33 of 53. Arman also attempted twice as many strikes during the fight reaching 9 minutes of control through three rounds. Arman’s two successful takedowns also pulled the decision towards him as well.

DoBronx still wants a title shot

Either way, Charles Oliveira doesn’t seem too bothered by the loss especially after Arman received a 9-month suspension for an altercation between him and a fan at UFC 300. Tsarukyan was also fined $25,000 as well. Despite being the #1 ranked fighter, he won’t get a title shot for at least another year or so. In the meantime, Carlos wants a rematch against Islam Makhachov.

Islam was scheduled to fight Oliveira at UFC 297 in January. However, Carlos retired after an injury he suffered while fighting. According to MMA Fighting, Oliveira is also interested in fighting Max Holloway, who is the current BMF Champion. Max has a win over Oliveira from 2015 that ended in a first round TKO.
