Uga X, Georgia’s lively mascot who won two consecutive national titles, dies peacefully in his sleep


Uga X, the animated mascot of the University of Georgia, died in his sleep. Georgia Athletics announced Tuesday, He was 10 years old. Also known as Q, Uga

Uga X was with Georgia every step of the way during Georgia’s modern race for dominance. In fact, he is the most decorated mascot in Georgia history. With Uga X patrolling the sidelines, the Bulldogs compiled a 91–18 record with two SEC titles and six appearances in the SEC Championship Game.

He was with the Bulldogs as they won consecutive College Football Playoff national titles in 2021–22, while going undefeated in the regular season, and he has made seven New Year’s Six bowl appearances with the Bulldogs. This includes his famous run-in with Bevo, the University of Texas’ live steer mascot, at the 2019 Sugar Bowl. Georgia went 9–2 in bowl games, including a national title game appearance against Uga X.

The successor to Uga X is Uga XI, fondly known as Boom, who took over the reins ahead of the 2023 season. The Bulldogs went 13–1 in the UGA XI’s first tour of duty, which ended with a win against Florida State in the Orange Bowl.
