Watch Charles Oliveira Drag Ian Geary Through Hell As He Trains Him For UFC 298 Fight Against Geoff Neal

Ian ‘The Future’ Geary is an Irish professional MMA fighter currently competing in the UFC. The 26-year-old Irishman is lighting up the UFC’s welterweight division with his still-ongoing win streak of 6 UFC fights. He is currently ranked #10 in the UFC Welterweight Rankings. Before signing with the UFC, Ian Gary was the Cage Warriors Welterweight Champion.

Gary made his UFC debut in November 2021 and managed a late first round finish in his debut. Known for his tremendous skill when it comes to striking, Ian Machado Gary holds a professional MMA record of 13-0-0. In his last fight against UFC veteran Neil Magny at UFC 292, he dominated the entire fight to win a comfortable unanimous decision over the ‘Haitian Sensation’.

Ian Geary is now preparing to fight #8 ranked welterweight, Geoff Neal at UFC 298. The two will face off in a welterweight bout on the main card on February 17, 2024. With a win, Ian Geary could claim the no. spot ahead in the welterweight division. Ian Geary recently posted a video on Instagram of himself getting ready for his next fight which caught the attention of UFC fans.

Ian Geary receives grappling lessons from Charles Oliveira

In the video, Ian Geary talks about his experience at his new training gym, Chute Box Academy, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. At the end of the video, Ian Geary expressed his gratitude to his gymmates ahead of his big fight on February 17. But the most interesting thing is that Ian Geary was seen sparring with the man who is the reason behind chute box fame, Charles ‘da Bronx. ‘ Olivera.

Ian Geary was seen sparring with the lightweight number 1 contender in the video. Or rather was literally taught by Olivera. The Brazilian UFC legend was teaching Gary practical lessons in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It was alarming to see the ease with which Charles Oliveira was handling Ian Geary’s advances while rolling him for fun.

This gets even more interesting when you consider that Ian Gary is a welterweight, while Charles Oliveira is a lightweight, although weight doesn’t matter much in BJJ. In general, Chute Box Academy is known for not doing normal or bland fights and grappling sessions. And the fact that Gary was struggling shows that fighting ‘da Bronx’ is not easy

Why was Gary kicked out of Leon Edwards’ gym?

Ian Geary has had quite an eventful past few months. He has been embroiled in many controversies leading up to his previous fight and his next fight. One such controversy surrounded Ian Geary’s last MMA gym. Before training at Chute Box, Ian Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards trained at Team Renegade BJ’s gym. Earlier he had allegedly ‘refused entry’ to the gym.

Gary told The Independent that Leon Edwards’ head coach didn’t want the welterweight champ to feel any doubt or insecurity. Following Ian’s statements, Team Renegade Jim released a statement addressing Ian’s claims of ‘insecurity’. The statement said, “Sometimes coaches let outside fighters come in, but this is very much a privilege and not the norm.”

He went on to say, “If the coach feels it doesn’t add to the team culture, the fighter is denied entry. Ian Geary’s more nomadic approach to preparation has given him great results, but it’s not compatible with what we’re building at Team Renegade. This has nothing to do with any particular fighter or any particular coach.

Whatever the reason, it’s clear that Ian Machado has surpassed Gary. Additionally, it seems that Gary Chute has settled into the Box Academy environment. As he prepares for his next fight at UFC 298, it remains to be seen how much jiu-jitsu he has learned from Oliveria.
