‘My 600 Pound Life’ Patient Delana Boyer Loses 107lbs After Breaking TLC’s ‘Cardinal Rules’
Hendersonville, North Carolina: In the third episode of ‘My 600-Pound Life’ Season 12, we meet Delana Boyer of Greenville, Tennessee, who has often hit hard times, begging her to turn to food for comfort. He got off to a rocky start in his weight loss quest, but he quickly recovered and showed Dr. Younan Nowzaradan that he was serious.
In some of the show’s final moments, Delana is shown walking better than ever and going on dates with her husband again. A quick look at Delana’s Facebook profile indicates that she seems to be doing well in 2024.

Although Delana’s current weight is unknown, recent photos show her looking happier and healthier. Delana currently appears to be living in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
Ahead of her episode’s premiere, she shared some thoughts on Facebook with viewers, “While watching, please remember that I’m a real person, this is really my life, this was the lowest point of my life, and I’m starting to live again! I Still a work in progress. I’m not where I want to be, but I’m not where I used to be either!”
It turns out that Delana hasn’t given up all of her negative behavior, but she’s still moving forward and thinking positively, which is wonderful to hear. As the show says at the beginning, the long-term success rate for those on the show is less than 5%.

Delana didn’t have the easiest childhood. After his real mother, Sharon, left, he was raised by his first cousin.
Sharon returned to his life when she was six, and kidnapped Delana for a year before releasing her to her cousin. Delana became pregnant at age 20, but her then-partner was violent, so she ran away.
When it came time to deliver her baby, she received devastating news: He was stillborn full-term. “It was the hardest moment of my life,” Delana commented.
Delana remarries and has a child, but her husband soon divorces her and gets custody of their child. Delana didn’t have an attorney at the time, so she was unable to fight.
He remarried and had a daughter, Savannah. However, Savannah’s father became violent, so Delana left him and took full custody of Savannah.
Savannah raised Delana until she was 12, when they had a fight and Savannah went to live with her uncle. Savannah, 19, refuses to get back with Delana because she is embarrassed by her weight.
After Savannah left home, Delana explored online dating and met her current husband, James, to whom she had been married for six years. As she comments in the episode, she feels more like a caregiver than a wife because she always responds to Delana’s weight.
Delana, who doesn’t leave the house because of her weight and needs help getting around it, weighed 646 pounds at the beginning of the episode.
“The first thought that came to my mind when I opened my eyes was that I made it to another day. I didn’t die in my sleep,” he said in the episode.

Finally, Delana felt ready to make a change in her life. He spent a year working with the show’s resident surgeon, Dr. Now, in Houston, Texas.
Delana’s weight-loss journey did not go smoothly. She was supposed to lose 50 pounds during her first weigh-in with Dr. Now, but instead she gained five pounds.
However, that setback inspired Delana to do the right thing next time. The second time she saw Dr. Now, she weighed 578 pounds and was cleared for bariatric surgery.
He weighed 539 pounds at the time of treatment and planned to lose 20 pounds per month afterward.

Previously, Delana was “excited” to meet the doctor, and she was optimistic that their car would make it to Houston, saying, “Vehicle-wise, I don’t think there will be any problems…it’s going perfectly well.” Sadly, things didn’t go as planned.
The production crew shooting Delana for this season of ‘My 600-Lb Life’ was forced to violate her “ground rule” of never interfering in the lives of her reality TV stars when an emergency arose on the road. In the March 20 episode, fresh off the show’s 12th season, Delana was running errands before ending her road trip to meet Dr. Now in Houston, Texas.
His car broke down in the middle of the road, between two lanes. With the automobile out of action, the production team “broke their own rule of never intervening,” according to onscreen writing, by pushing the car to safety on the side of the road.
When they arrive, Delana is distraught over the situation, and they head towards Houston and Dr. Now.
